James Macgregor Appointed ILTA Team Coordinator for Litigation & Practice Support Content Team
We are pleased to share that James Macgregor, Founder of Ethical eDiscovery, has been appointed Team Coordinator for the ILTA Litigation & Practice Support Content Team for the 2026–2027 term.
His term will run from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027, and in advance of this, he is already working with ILTA staff and Programming Committee Liaison Monique Sever to support the recruitment and onboarding of next year’s volunteer team.
The role of ILTA and why it matters
The International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) is one of the most respected communities in the legal technology space. It brings together practitioners from across law firms, service providers and in-house teams to share knowledge, challenge thinking and improve how technology is used across the profession.
Its content teams play a key role in that mission, developing practical, peer-led education that reflects what is actually happening in the market.
A natural extension of James’ work
James’ appointment builds on his existing involvement with ILTA, where he will continue in his role as Co-Chair of the Litigation Special Interest Group (SIG). Through this work, he has already been closely engaged in facilitating discussions, sharing knowledge, and bringing professionals together to address common challenges and opportunities in eDiscovery and litigation support.
From September, James will help lead the team’s monthly meetings and work alongside ILTA colleagues to develop a programme of educational sessions throughout the year. These sessions are created collaboratively by volunteers and are designed to address real issues facing legal teams, from emerging technologies to evolving best practices.
His role will involve guiding those ideas into well-structured, relevant content while supporting a strong and engaged volunteer culture. The aim is not just to deliver education, but to ensure it is practical, balanced, and aligned with the priorities set by the ILTA Education Council and Programming Committee.
Together, these roles ensure he remains closely connected to the day-to-day realities of the legal community, while also taking on the responsibility of turning those insights into meaningful action. In doing so, he can help shape and deliver initiatives that genuinely support and strengthen the wider legal technology community.
What this means for Ethical eDiscovery and our clients
While this is an individual appointment, it reflects the broader approach we take as a business. We place a strong emphasis on staying close to the realities of the market. Being actively involved in ILTA means we are part of the conversations where new ideas are tested, where challenges are openly discussed, and where best practices are continuously refined.
For our clients, this translates into:
Better visibility of emerging trends, grounded in real industry discussions
Practical, experience-led insight rather than theory or vendor positioning
Continued commitment to independent and unbiased advice
A forward-looking approach to solving complex eDiscovery challenges
It also reinforces our ability to support clients with confidence, knowing that our perspective is shaped by active participation in the wider legal technology community.
Supporting our broader purpose
As a B Corp business committed to ethical practices and long-term impact, we see involvement in organisations like ILTA as an important part of contributing to the profession. Supporting education, encouraging collaboration, and helping others grow are all central to the work every day and how we define success.
James’ appointment reflects that commitment in a very tangible way.
